Story of the drama

The narrative takes place in Turkey in the 1940s.

Davut (Ugur Gunes) is a young man who lives in a humble household with his siblings and parents. He works as a coalmine labourer alongside his father and brothers. He is bold and will not tolerate injustice.

One day, a disaster occurs in the coalmine owing to the boss's negligence. When it rains heavily, mine owner Malik (Murat Daltapan) ignores all warnings and refuses to allow workers to stop working at the coalmine. Miners are trapped within the coalmine, and many of them perish as the mine collapses.

Despite the fact that the mine owner bears full responsibility for the catastrophe, he threatens workers in order to avoid paying compensation. Davut cannot bear this injustice and resolves to speak out against the regime.

Davut is determined to alert local officials about what transpired in the coalmine. He runs across Malik's daughter Gulfem on his way to the city (Esra Bilgic).

Gulfem is a lovely young lady who grew up in an affluent household, oblivious to the reality of life. In a tolerant atmosphere, she lives happily with her father and two sisters.

Gulfem is tenacious, obstinate, and brave. She rides a horse without fear and defies gender preconceptions. This distinguishes her from other girls.

Gulfem initially supports her father and does not comprehend the workers' opposition in the coalmine. Her younger sister Fikriye (Serdem Pacal), on the other hand, reads a lot and, as a result, does not agree with her father's opinions regarding the impoverished.

Gulfem initially opposes Davut vehemently. He is considered rebellious, disobedient, and disrespectful by her. However, when she learns more about him, she grows to adore him.

Meanwhile, Malik wishes for her daughter Gulfem to marry wealthy mining boss Ali (Necip Memili).

The narrative of Lawless Lands (Kanunsuz Topraklar) is about an impossible love between Davut, a coalmine labourer, and Gulfem, the mine owner's daughter. Will Davut assassinate Malik and exact revenge on his sister? Will Davut and Gulfem fall in love despite their distinct backgrounds? Will Davut be able to effectively protect coal miners' rights?
